Mis-leaders

Torching is the sight,
A hunger strike raises national sympathy.
Oh India hear my plight,
Cries Ms. Mamta BAnerjee..

Headlines break the television,
Say, "bihar hua barbad.."
Perennial seems to be his mission,
The incorrigible laloo prasad..

Jingoistic and proud to be a desi,
Yet eulogized the father of every pakistani,
is this a farce or failed diplomacy,
An answer we seek from Lal Krishna Advani..

Blessed not is the intellectual,
In the company of goons and gun!
"What remains of me shall go hysterical.."
Singhs aloud Dr. Man Mohan.

One man the country had respect for,
Who needed none to hold his arm,
Who taught us how to dream and more,
We need you again Sir Abdul Kalam...

This is a letter written to a friend, I found through ‘orkut’, giving her a vivid description of my personality.

Dear V,
It’s a miracle that we are getting in touch after ten long years, and in these years much has changed within us. You have asked me for a long description of how these years have taken their toll on me. I hope I’ll be able to do justice in answering your question.
Well, to begin with, as a person I give importance to the emotional side of life...
Like love, the lighter part of life, which you could compare somewhat to the software which runs a computer.
Apart from that I am very much worried about my career at the moment and sometimes feel threatened too. I hate wasting time and am very punctual and have begun valuing time. I revere literature Hindi or English and believe that intellect can be developed by reading as it gives you knowledge. I am religious and secular at the same time... that is, all religions are equal but God or “The Force” is one.
I love Indian music, classical, ghazals , carnatic, thumris, etc. at the same time I am open to English music too, of the likes of John Denver, Bob Dylan, Phill Collins, Pink Floyd etc. I consider movies as great piece of art but there only a few masterpieces. I am very much influenced by Rang de basanti. It awakened me and left me with the desire to take corruption out of India. My fights with the auto-rikshaw wallas have begun.
I regard Satyajit Ray and Rakesh Om Prakash as my gurus in filmmaking. I believe in learning from everyone and become selfish in conditions where my knowledge intake is being compromised. I hate it if anyone tries to influence me. Mountains are my first love and there’s a deep desire to go for mountain biking and rock climbing in Leh.
I suppose, this much of information for now, would be sumptuous to break the hard ice formed in these long years between us. Do reply soon.
Regards,
Udit

The Attitude behind Mass Communication.

Mass Comm. includes more of practical activities than the theoretical and unlike any other study its laboratory’s are beyond the boundaries of the college or home. It is quite similar to Science or Engineering as the practicals enable us to learn the theoretical concepts. In Mass comm. the better we are in the practicals the more efficient we become and the better chances we have to work in a good company.
As far as the philosophy is concerned, in Engineering, Science or Mathematics we have 2+2=4 whereas in Mass Comm. it’s [2+2=4 + ‘i’].
Where ‘i’= Innovation + {Impact + Influence} on the audience.
‘i’ is how the communicator/messenger sends his message using his style and creativity to be perceived by the receiver with an emotional degree.
So, Mass Comm. is = facts + a lot more
Mass Comm. is = rules + setting new ones
Mass Comm. is = breaking the fundamentals

It might not sound practical in approach, easy to adjust with or to simply grab the idea to some one who has always followed a set/decided path which everyone else chases but the truth is that this profession is not straight as any other field. I don’t mean its tough (not at all) but it has many twists and turns and curves which are various paths to achieve your target moreover here the goals are a plenty each requiring diff. set of talents and abilities.
Consider Mass Comm. to be a game of Snakes and Ladders. But snakes here don’t bite instead become the opportunities and ladders become our efforts and we have a lot of tracks to reach our goal. Each track stops us at a high point or a milestone where we learn a lot, which comes in handy later at work or during the process.
Not everyone is compelled to take the definite path, no one is restricted but everyone has the freedom to choose his. It’s not at all a gamble or a risk to try unknown paths as long as you trudge them not forgetting your ‘Aim’ in life.
The opportunities don’t simply fall in these days, but have to be sought after and grabbed; as they don’t ring the doorbells and even their ‘knock’ goes unheard in this noisy world.

‘Omnipresent yet unseen’

My mother served me porridge with salt for breakfast today, which I find very repulsive.
Anticipating something good to eat on the Independence Day, I lost my sanity to anger and frustration. I threw the bowl saying, “how do you expect me to eat this, am I a beggar?” suddenly a thought jolted me like a 400 watt current. “I am blessed, for I am not a beggar. God loves everyone, but when he hates someone he’s terribly harsh on him.”
Being a human it’s a curse to beg, putting down his honor, pride and self esteem. We see beggars everywhere, yet their issue remains ignored, unattended and forgotten. For someone who can fund his basics, the nauseating beggars remain a part of the Life’s package they’ve been gifted with. No one gives them a second thought after offering them a rupee. ‘Omnipresent yet unseen’, is a perfect title for those thousands and lakhs of beggars raised by the benevolent Indians right from the streets of Benares to Cannaught Place in Delhi.
Countless questions set bells ringing in my mind and their answers I shall forever hunt for. Do beggars have dreams? Do they even know how big the world is? Do they ever realize that soon they will die having done no contribution to the society, but spent life as an affliction? Do they have any virtues like self-respect, pride, patriotism, love, which the contented boast off? I was curious to know the way a beggar lives; where does he sleep, eat, empty his bowels at?
Do these scavengers who are still uncivilized, despite the development taken place in the past 58 years have any fundamental right; a right to vote or to express themselves. While trudging the ladder of technology and economy have we the Indians forgotten the beggars who also seem to constitute a part of the population? I silently ate the porridge counting the number of questions which had come to my mind.

Down to Earth , On The Himalyas
Eerie environs,
Enveloped by divinity,
The place beckons, my admiration;
All the way from Delhi city.

On Kullu…….
“The air here is calm and cold,
This place though green glitters like gold,
Has mighty pines centuries old
God rests here, my father told.”

The Distance
We live so near, yet so far
From Madagascar to , Zanzibar,
I miss you at the wickedest hour,
When there’s no moon, no cloud, no star!

Cleopatra…..
Beauty beneath her feet,
Transcending a shivering heat,
She needs no jewels to prove her fame,
As whatever might be, Cleopatra is her name!

Intoxicated
Your eyes and the lips under them,
Adorned ornaments, an alluring gem.
Your breaths leave me stimulated,
Eventually, you make me intoxicated.

Words cease to speak,
Actions start deceiving me.
For a hug my arms stretch, as I become so meek,
For you, like a mother receiving me.

This world’s so small,
For my feelings to erupt unhold,
An emotional landscape is my portrait on the wall,
Truth is beauty God once told.

Conquest of circumstances,
An agitation of will within,
Conscience waits while my soul romances,
Triumphant the love communicates through skin.

Though intoxicated, I remember one thing,
You’ve made me let the life’s song sing,
Yes, with happiness comes insecurity,
But my song shall resonate the vibes of purity!

A Blissful bond
Years roll by,
Many memories lie,
Sweet or sour we never mind,
The times that have gone we never find

Life teaches a lot,
In abundance and drought,
And now you can read each other’s thoughts.
Continuing so long with harmony.
How you could accomplish it is a sweet mystery.

A spectacle on the earth,
A couple like you,
Grace from all the Gods,
I wish for you!
(on my parents 25th wedding anniversary.)

Only Till I Die
Only Till I Die,
I would be sad,
Only Till I Die,
Life would mean nothing to me.
Only Till I Die,
I would fear death.
Only Till I Die,
I wouldn’t believe in God.
Only Till I Die,
I would be sad,
For what I couldn’t do,
Because I had always known,
That I had more to live.

Coffee
Why go out when you
Can make the best in,
A bit more than balanced
But its not at all thin…..

It’s rich aroma,
Will bring you to form,
And now you needn’t worry,
Cos now you can make it for Mom………

It’s not imported
Cos the world’s best is here,
We deliver our heart and soul,
To show that we care……..

It’s a best friend when alone,
While you confess into it,
And it’ll listen to you for hours,
Without grumbling a bit….

On your taste buds,
It would create a stir
And at night you’ll feel
Enveloped as if in fur……..

The Distance
------makes me remember

That,
It’s not easy for us to part,
Because we have been together,
From the start.

Certain things of yours,
Did mesmerize,
Certain things of yours,
Did surprise.

I’ll be missing some things,
Your naughtiness is one,
Reading your so called sweet messages,
Have been great fun.
(I believe it’s not a pun)

And do you remember,
Your dumbness I mentioned?
I realize was nothing,
But your childlike innocence.

At times we have,
Walked together,
Laughed and,
Danced together

But to move with the world,
Its time we ourselves move,
And move ahead to fulfill our Call,
Make our mark and do the best.

But again,
It’s not easy to part
Because we have been together,
From the start.
